Wednesday Free Pick - MLB 8/16/11

I like getting David Price, TB pitching ace -- as a slight underdog (!!) -- visiting the Red Sox.  This is a case of a big edge on the mound -- but watered down by home edge for the Sox plus an anemic offense for the Rays.  With the Red Sox gaining headlines with their pennant chase (vs. the Yankees) -- there is also some value on taking a non-public team (and betting against the big name Sox).

We are going with Minny at home today over the Red Sox.  If you are scanning the board, note that there are two early afternoon MLB games.  The Minn game is in the evening -- and we like the home field edge combined with another bet against a "public team" (Red Sox).  - cb

Tuesday Free Pick - MLB 8/9/11

LAA ace Haren is going up against the Yankees today.  Although the Yankees are at home, we like the line value (LAA moved from a very slight dog to a larger dog with line value of about +15 from the Pinnacle open).  We'll go with Haren and his 12-6 record and 0.97 WHIP.  We also like betting against the big public teams like the Yankees.   jc & cb
